Objective

Classroom Race is a question and answer game. Students race each other to the finish line by answering a set of questions. With every correct answer, they are allowed to take one step towards the finish line.

Instruction

Prepare a list questions and target vocabulary categories. For example, if your target vocabulary is "fruit", your question might be "What's a yellow coloured fruit that monkeys love to eat?" Alternatively you can draw an object on the board that the students have to identify.

1. During class, break students into pairs or small groups if it is a large class. Designate a start and finishing line, and have the class line up at the starting line.

2. The teacher goes through his/her list of questions. As students correctly answer each question, they move one step at a time towards the finish line. The student who arrives first at the finish line wins the game.
