Materials: a large soft ball

Objective

Hot Potato is a game that is suitable for children and adult learners. It is played with music, using a ball (the Hot Potato) to pass from one player to the next. When the music stops, the player holding the ball forfeits, and is asked to perform something silly.

Instructions

1. Have the class stand in a circle, and nominate a to hold the "hot potato".

2. Next, play some lively music and ask the children to pass around the Hot Potato.

3. When the music stops, the child that is holding the hot potato has to do a forfeit. This could be anything from counting to ten, hopping on the spot, or touching everyone's noise and so on. Continue with the game until everyone forfeits.
