Objective of Sea Creatures
Sea Creature is a fun efl/esl classroom activity that children love to play! The children pretend to be a sea creatures swimming around a "shark". The teacher calls out a different command and the fishes and sea creatures must try to avoid been eaten (tagged) by the shark.
Instructions
1. The teacher chooses a "shark" amongst the students and divides the class into four groups. The four groups are sea creatures who must position themselves at the four corners of the room. The shark goes into the center of the room. Players can decide what kind of creature they would like to be, such as a jelly fish, a whale, a sea horse and so on.
2. The teacher calls for one of the groups to form a circle around the "shark". The teacher then calls out any one of the following commands:
- change directions - the sea creatures must swim anti-clockwise,
- fish soup - all of the sea creatures must circle around the shark,
- shark attack - the shark tries to tag (eats) as many sea creature as possible. When a sea creature is tagged, he or she becomes a member of the shark group.
3. After the shark attack, call a different group to form a circle around the shark again. Continue playing the game. The last fish to get caught wins the game.
