Objective
In the efl/esl conversation activity, Acting Out Adverbs, players work in teams to act out an adverb. Members of the other team try to guess what the adverb is.
Instructions
You may want to begin this activity by reminding the class what an adverb is (an adverb modifies verbs, phrases, adjectives or other adverbs. It often answers such questions as "when", "where" and "how").
1. Divide the class into two teams. The first team leaves the room and decides together on an adverb. They should write the adverb down on a piece of paper.
2. After chosing their adverb, the team comes back into the room and gives the paper to the teacher. Make sure that you do not show this paper to the second team.
3. The second team asks the first team to carry out an action befitting of the chosen adverb. The first team acts out the adverb while the second team is given a time limit to guess what the adverb is.
