Objective

Buzz is a counting game to help students practice counting from 1 - 100. Players take turns counting as quickly as they can, and say "buzz" when they reach multiples of 5.

Instructions

1. You can choose any number to be the "buzz" number, although 5 is a good number for elementary level learners, or as a practice round.

2. In this efl/esl activity, students count as quickly as they can, saying "buzz" whenever they reach multiples of five.

For example, the first player begins the game by saying out loud "one." The second player says "two", the third player says "three" and so on. When it is the fifth players turn, instead of saying "five", he or she must say "buzz". Likewise, the tenth student must say "buzz" and so on.

3. Students continue counting until someone makes a mistake and is counted out of the game. The last student remaining in the game is the winner. After the first game, it is a good idea to choose another number number as the "buzz" number.

Variation

Another variation of this counting game is to change directions whenever a particular number is reached.
