Instructions
1. This game can be played with small teams or individuals depending on the size of the class. Choose a volunteer student and have him/her leave the room. Next, decide on an adverb that the class should act out. Choose an adverb that everyone can easily act out such as "sadly" rather than "carelessly".
| Easy Adverbs big, small, slowly, fast, heavy, happy |
More Challenging Adverbs new, old, small, big, gladly, expensive, cheap, often, lovingly |
2. Invite the volunteer student back into the room. He/she must now try to guess what the adverb is by asking other students to act out the adverb in a manner in which it can be expressed. He/she can ask an individual student, or a group of students to act out the adverb.
For example: "walk in the manner of the adverb", "swim in the manner of the adverb" or "drink in the manner of the adverb."
3. Decide on a time limit, or the number of guesses that a volunteer student can have. If the student correctly guesses the adverb, they score a point for their team or for themselves. Once guesses or time limit has been reached, and the student fails to correctly guess the adverb, you can pick another volunteer.
