Materials: Print and distribute Worksheet A and Worksheet B

Objective

This is a ready-to-use conversation based, role play activity. It is simple to use, and provides guided pair work practice.

Instructions

1. Separate learners into pairs and provide a copy of the Telephone Conversation Handouts to student A and student B. Before starting this conversation activity, make sure that you give learners plenty of time to read through their worksheets so that they understand the instructions.

2. If necessary, discuss any words or phrases that students are not familiar with. You may want to go through the following language functions on a whiteboard:

Could you?
Could I?
Present Simple/Future

3. Give learners some time to practice. You might like to walk around the class to observe student communication and provide feedback after their practice.

Additional Practice

After students have completed their worksheets, encourage them to practice for fluency. Discuss any relevant grammar points that you observed and make up similar situations using language from the worksheets as a model.
