Objective

Back-to-Back Description is a grammar activity where students use present continuous tense to describe each others appearance.

Instructions

Decide on the language structure and vocabulary to practice. The following table can be used as a guide, however you can also add vocabulary that relates to jewellery and physical appearances.

Structures
You've got ...
You're wearing ...
There's a ... on you ...
Your .... is ....

Vocabulary for Clothes
trousers, suit, shirt, tie, sweater, t-shirt, jacket, belt, cap, sneakers, boots, dress

1. Ask learners to walk around the classroom and observe in as much detail as possible what other learners are wearing.

2. After a few minutes, ask learners to stop what they are doing and to stand back-to-back with a learner closest t to them. Without looking, one learner describes what the other student is wearing using the language structure and vocabulary. The other learner does the same.
