Objective

This activity involves repeating the phrases and action of the leader. Students must use Present Continuous phrases or sentences to describe what the action is. The goal of this game is to eventually change leaders so that everyone gets a chance to lead.

Instructions

1. Have the class stand in a circle around the teacher. If the group is large, separate the class into two or three separate circles around the teacher..

2. Explain to the class that you will start miming an action and say a phrase at the same time. For example, you can use the "ing" form of the verb and an object such as "painting a picture", "eating a cake" or "digging a hole".

3. Players must now follow the action and repeat the phrase. The action and phrase should be repeated until someone in the group changes them by starting a new action and saying a new phrase.

Notes:
It is important to repeat the action and phrase until it is changed. This helps maintain the rhythm of the game. If two people start a new action and phrase, the who class is to continue the new action and phrase ... until the whole group chooses one action and phrase to follow.
