Materials: Collect 14-15 images of everyday activities such as a beach scene, shopping mall, movie theatre and so on.

Objective

In this efl/esl grammar activity, students use images and past continuous statements to describe what they did on the weekend.

Instructions

1. Go through your picture collection, past continuous language structure and any vocabulary that your students are unsure of.

2. Next split the class into pairs or small groups, and place the cards face-down in the middle of the group. Demonstrate the activity with a volunteer student.

Teacher: What where you doing last Saturday?
Studnet: (Picks a card) I was at the movies. What about you?
Teacher: (Picks up another card) Oh! I was fishing ...
