Instructions

1. Select a volunteer from the class and allow them to choose an image at radom. The learner can also choose to have another student help him/her mime the action if necessary.

2. After the learner finishes his/her mime, the class must guess the action using the appropriate present continuous tense.

Variations

For higher level learners, students are given all of the pictures from the Present Continuous Tense worksheet and mime them out in a logical sequence. He/she nods their head as the class makes their guess and moves on to the next action.

Example
Helen looks at the pictures and decides to mime the following story (with some help from her classmates):
Helen is fast asleep when her telephone rings. She picks up the phone and talks to her friend who wants to invite her to watch a game of soccer. Before going to the match, Helen takes a long hot shower. She sings in the shower. After the shower, she has some breakfast and goes out to catch the bus. She later meets her friend at the football stadium, and they watch a game of soccer together for the afternoon.

The class trys to guess what Helen is doing. For example, "she is sleeping", "she is singing" or "she is watching a football game."
