Objective

The objective of this grammar activity is for students to write down sentences using the Simple Past, Past Perfect and Future Past to describe a drawing that is passed around the class.

Instructions

1. Gather learners into groups of fours. Without speaking to each other, students draw their own pictures of a real past experience.

2. Student A hands his/her completed picture to student B. Student B writes a simple past sentence of what he/she thinks happened in the picture. After completing the sentence, student B passes the paper to student C. Student C writes a past perfect and passes the paper to student D. Student D writes a future past by writing "was going..." and completes the sentence.

3. The other students repeat this process, and afterwards they compare their pictures and descriptions.
