Objective
60 Seconds is a grammar activity where the speaker has to speak for 60 seconds without making any grammatical errors.
Instruction
1. Explain to the class that the objective of this activity is to speak for 60 seconds without any long pauses and without amaking any grammatical errors. Scores are given based on the following:
- Finishing the minute (+ 2 point)
- Stopping the speaker and gives the right correction (+ 1 point)
- Stopping the speaker but gives the wrong correction (- 1 point)
- Giving the wrong correction (- 1 point)
2. Choose a speaker and give them a general topic. Allow the speaker about 20-30 seconds to think about the topic, and then ask them to start speaking. If you conduct this activity for the first time, or if you have a "polite" and reserved group, encourage the class to be willing to challenge each other. Don't be the challenger yourself, as doing so may intimidate the players and kill the game.
