Objective
In Backward Spelling Quiz, teams work together to correctly guess a word that is spelt backwards.
Instructions
This spelling activity can be played using a list of spelling words that you want your class to learn. You can also allow students to think up their own words.
1. Divide the class into two teams and ask a volunteer from one of the teams to start the activity. Give players time to think up a word and to write it down.
2. Players begin the activity by spelling the word backwards. The team that correctly guesses the spelling word scores a point, and becomes the next person to spell another word backwards.
Variations
Another variation of Backward Spelling Quiz is to have members of an opposing team ask the other opposing team to spell a word backwards. If the other team spells the word correctly they score a point. Start the activity by using three or four letter words, and increase this number after each successive round.
