Objective
Spelling Review Activity is a fun efl/esl activity for reviewing spelling with your class. A spelling word is given and students take turns to spelling out the word - one letter at a time - until the whole word is spelt out.
Instructions
Before class, prepare a list of spelling words that you would like the class to review.
1. Have everyone in the classroom stand up. When everyone is ready, call out a word.
2. A first student begins by saying the word, and the first letter of that word. The second student says the second letter, the third student with the third letter, and so on until the whole word is spelt out. The last person must pronounce the word and give the correct definition of the word.
If a student makes a mistake or gives the wrong definition that student must sit down. The game begins again with the same word until it is spelt correctly, and until the correct definition is given. The last student standing wins the game.
