Objective

Vocabulary Definitions is a bingo game that help students review past vocabulary. In the game, players cross out each word that the teacher gives a definition to. The first player to cross out all four words on their sheet and calls out "Bingo" wins the game.

Instructions:

1. Choose a list of words that you would like learners to revise. Have students write these words out on a separate piece of paper, and if necessary review them before beginning the game.

2. Next, give a definition to one of the words. Learners must cross out the correct word that matches this definition on their own sheets. The first learner to cross out all four words on his/her sheet calls out "Bingo". They must read out the four words to prove that they are correct.

Variations:
For beginner ESL students, you may want to select 20-25 numbers to learn. These can be in sequences (e.g. 1-20), or certain numbers that present listening problems (e.g. 9, 13, 30).
