Objective

Mystery Word is a fun efl/esl team activity where learners work together to "absorb" other players into their fold by guessing the other teams mystery word.

Instructions

1. Divide players into 4 or more equal teams. The more teams you can create the more enjoyable the game becomes. Select a team and ask them to go outside the room and decide on a mystery word.

2. When the first team arrives, the other teams cluster around them and ask questions which can only be answered as "yes" or "no". The team to guess the correct mystery word absorbs all or most of the players. The winning team is the only team left in the game, or the one with the most players.

Variations:
To play Mystery Word with smaller classes, you can have individuals go out of the class instead of having whole teams go out.
