Objective

In this writing activity, players try to form words in a 5 x 5 or 7 x 7 grid. Players call out a letter, write it into their grids and try to form as many words as they can.

Instructions

1. Players begin the game by drawing a 5 x 5 grid on a sheet of paper, or 7 x 7 grid if the students play in pairs.

2. Players take turns calling a letter of the alphabet and placing it into any square on their grid. The goal for each player is to form a word that runs down or accross, by placing the letters in the appropriate square. Once the letters have been written down, they cannot be moved.

3. When the grids are full, players tally up their score. Each word is worth one point. Two words can be scored if it is separeated by another letter on the same row.
