Writing Activities

Acrostics - learners try to form words by filling in the missing gaps. Two given letters are given, one at the beginning and at the other at the end.

Anagrams - Anagrams is played by rearranging a group of letters to form new words.

Call My Bluff - learners are given an obscure word in which they have to write a dictionary definition for. At the end of the activity, players try to guess the correct meaning of the word based on these mixed definitions.

Crossword Puzzle - players take turns calling out a letters and writing it into a 5 x 5 or 7 x 7 grid.

Famous Last Words - students write out funny scripts of what famous people might say before they die.

Rhyming Activities - players take turns writing a rhyming poem based on what someone else had previously written.

Rhyming Poetry - learners write poems using a given set of words.

Sentence Fluency Game - players to unscramble mixed letters to form sentences.

Scrambled Sentences - players write sentences using as many words as possible that starts with the same letter.

Word Building Activity - players two letters are written on the board. And within a set time, players must write as many words as possible using only those two letters.

Word Formation - students try to write as many words as possible by using letters from a given word.

Words in a Song - this writing activity is played by listening to a piece of music. When players hear words from the song that is written out in front of them, they must try to grab the words before the other players can get to them.
